You know when you’re reading a good book. The kind you can’t put down.
One where you’re rooting for the hero, and hoping the villain gets theirs. A real page turner.
That’s part of good-book magic. You can’t wait to turn every page and see what happens next. Finding one can seem like rolling the dice. You wonder if it’ll be one that you’re willing to lose sleep to finish, or one that you skim for book club.
Choosing a good-book is not too dissimilar from the millions of choices we make in life. Are we making choices that fit our character? Are the choices we make noteworthy? Will the choice help us move from page to page, and chapter to chapter? Who will we meet along the way? Will we want to read what we’ve put on the page?
Becoming and remaining the hero of our own story can seem daunting. It takes intention to consider every word, while believing there’s always more pages to write. It’s not a small thing, and if we’re lucky, it’s work that we’re able to hold because of the many characters we meet along the way.
I’m grateful for all the chapters I’ve had up until this moment, and excited to write those that remain as I strive to be my own good-book. Thank you to all the characters who have and will join me on my journey.
